Yaqub al-Hadrami

Yaqub ibn Ishaq al-Hadrami al-Basri (117–205 AH / 735–820 CE), one of the Ten canonical reciters and the leading imam of Basra. He received the qirāʾa from Shallawayh ibn Mihran and others, with a chain connecting to the noble Companions.

Yaqub's qirāʾa belongs to the Basran school and is distinguished by the articulation of the silent ha in certain positions, along with specific rulings on madd and hamza.
